Through the buying of the last authentic worker's house from 1897 in the centre of Levanger the main goal is to pass on knowledge about labour and city culture. The house is in an area that is laid out as a special area for conservation, in a labour and seaman section, which in oral tradition is called Rotterdam. This is a name that could characterise both the social environment and the fact that many men went to sea from here.

Emilie's House is an example of exceptional cultural importance in the centre of Levanger where you can see a complete labour housing with front and back yard originally preserved. The Town Museum of Levanger wants to use this housing as a place where you can experience the history of the city linked to labour culture in a craftsman, fisherman and seaman's district of the town.
