Marsimartnan - The Winter Fair in Levanger

Levanger has been a trade centre and a market place for centuries and documentation from 1530 tells about the market here at Levanger but probably it is as old as the Gregori Market at Frøsø, Østersund, Sweden, which is mentioned in written sources from the 10th century.

The Levanger Market is among the oldest and most important markets in Norway, and also the most important place for exchange trade between the Swedish farmers from Jemtland and farmers and fishermen from Trøndelag and merchants from Trondheim.
